Board and Train

During drop off or prior to drop off, we want to hear from you about your training goals, your current routine with your dog, what you have tried training wise prior, what's most important to you and all we can know about your pups personality. 

Training is immersive and deliberate. Your dog will receive 3-5 sessions per day focused on obedience, behavior modification and your individual goals. You will receive frequent updates and pictures of your dog.

The end of training is just the beginning of your new journey with your dog.  The day of go home, you will receive a TON of information.  We will have a full training video for you of your dog doing the work, homework booklet and spend at least an hour together going over everything we covered and teaching you what to continue.

Just because your dogs board and train program is completed does not mean training is over.  All programs include a follow up session at your home with your dog approximately 1-2 weeks after your dog completes his stay.  We will go through commands with you, watch you practice and tweak things as needed.  Our commitment is to you and your dog and we are here for the long term. 

Board and Train is an immersive training program where your dog stays with a professional trainer and receives structured, individualized training throughout their stay. Sessions are 3-5 times per day along with "real life" training that happens in a house, such as impulse control around food, no jumping, no door bolting, settling inside etc. Programs focus on developing obedience, manners, engagement, and behavior skills based on your dogs needs and your goals. 

Every dog has different needs, learning histories, and training goals. During your initial phone consultation, we'll discuss your concerns and evaluate where your dog is at, and provide feedback on the program recommended.  If you feel like your dog is a unique case, we do provide in home consults.

Training is an ongoing process, and no ethical trainer can guarantee that every behavior will be permanently resolved in a set number of days. Our goal is to establish meaningful skills and give your dog a strong foundation.  Your participation and consistency after the program are essential to maintaining progress.

Each program includes individualized training and structured daily routines tailored to your dogs training goals.  Specific inclusions, care arrangements, training goals and owner training transition is discussed the day training begins so you know exactly what your dogs program will look like. Also included in our board and train program is a training video showing your dogs success with each cue, and homework for you going over step by step points.

Board and Train allows your dog to live with a trainer and is the most successful, immersive training out there.  Our program is different in that our trainers only accept 2 client dogs at a time, and the dogs live in our home.  Routine wise, the days start around 6:30 am for potty and playtime, then our first training session is approximately 8 am for your pups breakfast.  The first training session of the day always is a review from the sessions the day before.   If there is any of your dogs food remaining after training they finish eating it and we take them out for a walk or play session.  After this, your pup will either have a nap, or come in the car with us to sessions.  Client dogs training with us participate in training sessions as distractions which provides real work experience for your dog.  The daytime consists of 3-5 training sessions with us, 1-2 visits to clients with us, walks, social time, of course naps as needed, and by 6 pm our training is completed.  You dog gets their dinner, an after dinner nap / treat and free time to just relax in the house.  Around 9:30 pm it's time for another potty break and then lights out by 10:30.   *Important reminders -- even if your dog loves being outside, it is our policy that they are never outside unattended.  This is for safety.  So we will go on walks, playtime in the yard and make sure they get plenty of fun outside (weather permitting) but we will never leave your dog unattended. 

Please text, email or bring a copy of your dogs vaccination records.  We require a current rabies vaccination for any dog over 5 months old.  

Bring your dogs food, including any regularly used supplements or medications. (If your dog has a medical concern, please discuss with us prior to training drop off). 

Comfort items like a blanket that smells like home, a few toys is recommended but not required.  We do ask that you do not bring your dogs crate, large beds, bowls etc as we have all of that here and a system that works well.
